What we did in 2024

It has been quite some time since I got on here and made a blog post. Young businesses take a lot of effort to start up, and this project fell to the back burner. I am finally in the grove of the workflow and am ready to create new fun content and expand this blog. Let me know via email or via comment what kind of flower/plant content you would like to see here!

2024 RECAP:

In spring, wedding season returned. I had a lot of fun things happening in spring. I was lucky enough to do a wedding at one of my “must-do” locations. I think all vendors have a list of other vendors we would love to work with. This location- The Ruins (Seattle, WA - https://landmarkeventco.com/venues/the-ruins/ ) has the most beautiful reception room, and this has always drawn my attention. It is filled with an incredible dark blue mural. Each room in the venue has a different design. The ceremony room is bright and white, and the bar is dark and sleek. There is even a sun room entrance! The couple I worked with here had a very specific design in mind, and I LOVE curating specific looks- so this was a really fun task for me. Everything turned out gorgeous!

I had so many other great clients through the spring and summer. My goal this year was to book more clients who were looking for fun color pallets and more unique style choices. I thrive with creative work- so I want to fine tune and shape my brand’s work to reflect this. “Colors and crazy ideas” are the best category of creation. This goal was very successful. I was seriously lucky to have so many fun client ideas this year. For my past and future clients (since I get a lot of apologies for this): just know when you are feeling guilty for sending me giant paragraphs about your ideas and visions, I am LOVING it. This work is so much more fulfilling when you know you are trying to create a vision that someone else brought to you. I also love a light prompt- where I get all of the design freedom.. and that’s fulfilling too, but your wedding/ event day is about YOU, so I love making your visions come to life, as much as I love doing it for myself.

With this season getting close to wrapping up, I have been lucky enough to do 20+ events so far this year. All of my clients have been so kind, and every event has gone beautifully. I worked at 11 new (to me) venues, and worked with so many awesome vendors. I tasted some delicious samples from caterers, and drank a few local beers along the way.

Before I joined the wedding and event industry- I didn’t even consider how many great personal connections I would make with other vendors (caterers, planners, musicians, and everyone in between) and other florists. Beyond curating designs for people- this is the best part of the job. Small business owners and their employees are truly rockstars.

I took place in three Fleurs De Villes shows since my last blog post- Seattle Pride 2023, Noel 2023, and Pride 2024. I’ll have to make a follow-up post on these designs. I love creating designs on mannequins for Fleurs De Villes- the challenge to come up with something creative, new, and inspired by real fashion is really fun. A large part of the challenge is coming up with the mechanics of the build- and I could go on for days about this. I would love to branch out and do more sculptural floral designs. Can someone bring back Netflix’s “The Big Flower Fight” for me??

With 2025 coming scary fast- I am getting ready to return to my laptop for event booking season. In my free time, I’ll be posting here more regularly with some fun content. Next up: some kind of succulent craft (TBD)?
