How Much Do Wedding Flowers Cost?

The first thing you’re going to google on your wedding floral journey: “How much do wedding flowers cost?”.

The short, and unsatisfying answer: it depends on what you want.

Your dream florals might actually cost $20,000, but your budget might only be $5,000. Creating Pinterest vision boards can lead you to this place- everything is big and beautiful there.

If you have a specific budget for your florals, it is important to understand floral pricing when preparing to plan with a florist. Flowers are a luxury- and you get what you pay for!

Let’s break down some of the numbers for you, so you can get a better understanding on what your budget may get you.

Here are some price ranges I have pulled from my own jobs:

Bridal Bouquets: $150-$350

Bridesmaid Bouquets: $150-250

Boutonnieres: $15-$35

Corsages: $25-$50

Centerpieces: $125-500

Partial Arbor: $600-2,500

Full Arbor: $1,900-$6,000

Bud Vases- $15-35

Size, design, seasonality, and floral selections are some factors that impact the cost of each arrangement.

Florists have access to premium, high quality blooms. We focus on finding the best florals for your designs.

Arrangements that can cause the most variability in overall cost are centerpiece count and arbor designs.

For centerpieces, quantity of centerpieces needed will be your biggest factor. Although one centerpiece may cost $250, if you have 10 tables, that cost now rises to $2,500 for your 10 centerpieces.

Bud vases can seem like a less expensive option- and they can be, but not always. We typically select our focal blooms for the bud vases. Sometimes these are paired with greenery and complementary flowers. Focal blooms can cost anywhere from $5-25 per stem. Bud vase rental/purchase will be often be included in your cost as well. Once you start adding 3-7 bud vases per guest-table, add in the cocktail tables, buffet, etc… the numbers can start adding up quickly. You can expect your bud vases to range from $15-$35 per bud vase.

Arbors take a lot of product to cover their whole shape. They also take a lot of time and often many hands to design. There are many shapes of arbors, and many ways to cover them, so the price ranges greatly. Most often, my full arbors are between $2,000-$6000.

Two of the biggest things I want you to take-away from this post:

  1. Quality products cost money.

  2. The more arrangements you need, the more your cost will rise.

Some other things to know: If your flowers aren’t in season or grown locally, then your florals may be more expensive. Some florals are expensive in the north, but cheap in the south (and vice-versa). It would be great if all florals were available in all regions year-round, but that is not the case. Flowers are a crop- just like oranges, avocados, and cabbage, they all have specific growing condition needs, and these needs can’t be met in all regions. If you have a specific vision in mind for your floral ingredients, this will affect the cost of your order. If you don’t have specific florals you NEED in your event, your florist will work to make effective product choices for you.

Seasonality and growing region aren’t the only things that will impact the cost of stems. Plant diseases, growth habits, pests, and weather can all impact the price of florals. These are costs that your florist will keep in mind, but we don’t expect you to know all of these details. Your florist will strive to bring you high-quality, luxurious blooms. Just be aware that we do not control the cost of flowers- but we will try to lead you towards blooms that fit best.

If you are working with a specific price range in mind, it is important to tell your florist this up-front. We can make design choices, or steer you in a direction that makes sense for you, if we know how much you have set aside for the florals in your wedding.
